Coneflowers
Full Day Workshop

Fun, fun, fun....that's what this class is. Who doesn't like coneflowers? They come in a variety of great colors, have beautiful foliage and that center...that beautiful center.
We will complete a 10" x 14" quilt. Using machine embroidery the central disc of our coneflowers will literally stand out as an integral part of the the design. Your coneflower color is your choice.
Supply List for Participants
- Sewing machine in good working order. Feed dogs should drop for free motion quilting/embroidery. Include extra machine needles, bobbins, darning, applique and 1/4" foot.
- Quilt Sandwich - 20" x 20" - For warm up.
- Table top extender (optional) - A helpful too
- Fabrics - 1/4 to 1/2 yard cuts - Selection of batiks for flower petals. Color is a personal choice. Batiks are a non-fray fabric that work well with small detailed fused shapes. Leaves can be any assortment of green fabric. Stems should be a light to medium tan shade fabric. Choose a background fabric that will make your coneflowers and leaves stand out. Border fabric is the students choice.
- Thread - Assortment of colors to match your fabrics. Rayon and polyester are good. Include black & dark/light browns for embroidered center of flower. Also include monofilament clear & smoke for outline quilting.
- Fusible Web - 1 yard cut of Pellon regular weight Wonder Under #805.
- Teflon Sheet - (optiona)l - Good for working with fusible web.
- Iron on stabilizer - 1/2 yard cut of medium weight stabilizer or Pellon Craft Fuse.
- Batting - Student's choice - low loft, dense - 80/20 blend is what I use.
- Fabric Markers/Pens - Micron brown, fine point (.05) or any brown fabric pen.
- Sharpie Permanent Marker
- Tracing Paper - Two 81/2" x 11" sheets will work.
- Marking Pencils - Papermate, Bic or any mechanical pencil brand will due. Available at any drugstore, Wal-Mart or Target. We want a fine line pencil.
- Rotary Cutter/Mat/Scissors/Ruler
- Iron/Mat/Ironing Board - Student's own set up is preferred. Check with guild to see if provided in classroom.
- General sewing supplies - Include safety pins for basting quilt.
- Marking pen/pencil - For fabric.
- Quilting Gloves - My favorite tool for quilting.
- Extension Cord/Power Strip - Check with guild to see if provided.
Instructor will have template plastic and a limited supply of batik scrap fabrics ad other misc. supplies & handout.
Instructor will require 2 large tables, pin board for display of work and electrical power access.
